YEAR 2007 International Collaborations

APAN Manila, Phillippines Telesurgery on Gastro-endoscopic Surgery. Surgery took place in Seoul National Bundang University, Korea and was live streamed from MSC Innovation Centre, Cyberjaya where MYREN NOC is located. Objective: Introduction of new surgery techniques and provide opportunities for local surgeons to participate in telesurgery conferences. There were 30 participants comprising of doctors and networking technical experts in the event.

Global Information Day Programme to bring awareness to non EU countries on FP7 CALLs The event took place in Brussels, Belgium and was live streamed from MSC Innovation Centre, Cyberjaya. Objective: To promote research collaboration between Europe, Asia-Pacific, North Africa, Middle East and Latin America. There were various speakers from the European Commission.

GEANT2 Event, Slovenia The topic was to bring awareness to non EU countries on FP7 CALLS. The event took place in Slovenia and was live streamed in Universiti Malaya. Objective: To promote research collaboration between Europe, Asia-Pacific, north Africa, middle East and Latin America. There were various speakers from the European Commission including Malaysian speakers: Dr. Faridah Noor (UM) and Kamal Hisham (MYREN).

CanalAVIST Event 1: 2nd ASEAN-China International Bioinformatics Workshop. The event took place in NUS, Singapore. Objective: CanalAVIST aims to provide channels for seamless education, teaching, training, conferencing, lectures, talks throughout ASEAN countries for ASEAN researchers and students. The ASEAN countries speakers were from China & ASEAN Bioinformatics.

International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) Workshop. Topic: First ICTP Regional Microelectronics Workshop and Training on VHDL for Hardware Synthesis and FPGA Design in Asia-Pacific. The event took place in IIUM, having trainers from ICTP, who originated from Italy. Objective: The event/training was live-streamed among MYREN members and R&E communities connected via TEIN2. There were 30 participants per day on an average

Live transmission from Kyushu University Hospital to MYREN. The event took place in MYREN NOC. Objective: A teleconference between MYREN and Kyushu University for about 30-40 mins to hear the presentation of Dr Qua from Malaysia who was on attachment with the hospital about his experience in Japan using DVTS. The speakers were Dr Salem (Malaysia), Dr Shimizu (Kyushu, Japan), and a few doctors from Kyushu Hospital University.
