MYREN Background
Established in 2005 under the Ministry of Higher Education, the Malaysia Research and Education Network (MYREN) is Malaysia’s national research and education network, providing high-speed and reliable connectivity to support higher education, research and academic communities. As a community-managed network, MYREN operates through eight regional Points of Presence (PoPs), connecting more than 800,000 researchers, academicians and students across Malaysia.
MYREN connects Public and Private Universities, Polytechnics, Community Colleges and selected Hospital Pengajar, while continuing to expand its community to research institutes, colleges and other institutions. The network facilitates collaboration and supports critical applications, education and research activities across the country.
Beyond national connectivity, MYREN provides access to regional and international Research and Education Networks (RENs), including APAN and TEIN, enabling Malaysian researchers and educators to collaborate with the global research and education community. Today, MYREN continues to strengthen Malaysia’s digital research and education ecosystem through high-performance connectivity, network management, secure access and collaborative digital services.
